Natalie has been teaching my girls piano for over a year now, and we absolutely love her! She is incredibly patient and encouraging, while also paying close attention to detail and making sure the kids learn proper technique and develop good habits from the beginning.

I also really appreciate the special experiences she creates for her students. Twice a year, she organizes mini concerts where the kids can perform and proudly show how much they’ve progressed. She even arranged an opportunity for them to play at a professional recording studio and record their pieces, which was such a unique and memorable experience!

Natalie truly cares about her students and makes learning piano both enjoyable and meaningful. I highly recommend her to any family looking for a wonderful piano teacher!

It’s rare to find a music teacher who is, at the same time, kind, and able to hold students to high standards. Natalie Ter Agapova, who has taught our daughter piano and singing for the past 3 years, has both of these qualities. Natalie is a practicing musican, and her own beautiful performances are an inspiration to my daughter and in fact to our whole family. She makes concerts creative and fun: she organized a visit to a SF recording studio, where students had the experience of recording their performance with many takes and sound mixing. On Halloween, she had a concert with students & teacher in costume. I’m happy that my daughter is learning on a broad repertoire, from beginning lesson books to Shostakovich, to American folk songs. I know of at least one of Natalie’s students who has now entered and won piano competitions, but I also like that for us, the lessons do not feel pressured, and the focus is imparting a love of music through technique. As a side note, I'm sure that my own violin teacher of many years ago (the late Anne Crowden, who founded a music school in Berkeley) would have approved.

Our teenager has been taking piano lessons with Natalie. We have had such a great experience: Natalie is an excellent teacher and has great patience as well as energy. Our daughter has developed a great bond with her.
